Rinse after meals, brush daily with a denture brush (not toothpaste), and soak overnight in water or denture solution. These three steps protect your denture and your gums.
Acrylic dentures will warp if they dry out completely. Always store them in water or a denture-soaking solution when they're not in your mouth — especially overnight.
If your dentures feel loose, move when you talk, or are causing sore spots, that's a sign they need attention — not that you have to grin and bear it. A reline or adjustment can make a transformative difference.
After tooth extraction, the jaw bone gradually shrinks over time. This is why dentures that fitted well five years ago may feel loose today. Regular check-ups and timely relines slow the impact and keep your jaw healthier for longer.
New denture wearers are advised to start with soft foods while they adjust — but well-fitted, quality dentures should allow you to eat most things within a few weeks. If you're still struggling after the adjustment period, come and see us.
We see this regularly — and it always makes the repair harder (and more expensive). If your denture breaks, keep the pieces and call us. Same-day repairs are usually possible, and a professional repair is always superior to DIY.
